XLRI campus lies in the heart of the city of Jamshedpur. The nearest airports to Jamshedpur are Kolkata (Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, CCU) and Ranchi (Birsa Munda Airport, IXR). Journey from Kolkata via road takes about 6 hours (290 kms) and via train about 4 hours. Journey from Ranchi via road takes about 2.5 to 3 hours (130 kms).

The railway station at Jamshedpur, known as Tatanagar (TATA), is well connected by trains from Alleppy, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata (Howrah), Mumbai, Patna and Pune. XLRI Campus is about 7 kms from the railway station and can safely be reached by auto - rickshaws or taxis round-the-clock at a reasonable charge of Rs. 200/- and Rs. 300/- respectively (approximate rates).

XLRI is located near the Jubliee Park in the Circuit House Area (East). The campus has two gates - one opens to the Marine Drive and the other to CH Area. XLRI campus can be approached from either of the gates.
